History is a subject that some find to be dry or boring. Putting some spark into your history lessons is as easy as running a Google search. There are thousands of sites about history on the web.
If you use a history curriculum, or even if you don't, you can use the internet to spice up your history lessons and make them more interesting for your kids. My favorite sites for history are:
My favorite by far is Brainy History. You can search this site by year and it lists all the major historical events in chronological order. I get a lot of ideas for history lessons from this site. We usually look up the time period of the literature we are reading to give us an idea of what else was happening in the world at that time. When we don't have an idea for a history lesson we just visit Brainy History's home page to see what happened "on this day in history". That usually sparks an idea or two for a lesson.
The internet can be a great resource for your history curriculum. Use it to your advantage and add some interests to your history lessons.
